OUR STORY

Cassandra Renée began in the world of couture, where founder and designer Cassandra Renée De Mel created one-of-a-kind pieces shaped by bridal and red-carpet glamour. The label's design language was defined by the tension between classic cuts and subtle provocation, underpinned by meticulous attention to detail. In 2026, Cassandra Renée enters its second chapter with the launch of its ready-to-wear line. Its debut collection, Rebirth, marks an evolution rather than a departure from couture, with custom pieces continuing to be created selectively. This new expression of the label brings together interchangeable wardrobe staples and statement occasion pieces created to be treasured long beyond the moment.

That dialogue carries into each collection through the juxtaposition of strength and softness, and masculine and feminine codes. This foundation informs every creative decision, from the choice of materials and construction to proportion and finish. With quality over quantity at its core, every piece is designed as an investment that transcends seasons - reflecting the craftsmanship, intention and enduring beauty of slow fashion.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Cassandra Renée De Mel is the Melbourne-based founder and creative director of Cassandra Renée. An artist from an early age, she studied fashion at RMIT University before completing her bachelor's degree in fashion at Box Hill Institute. Following the debut of her graduate collection at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week in 2015, Cassandra spent more than a decade creating custom bridal, eveningwear and red-carpet couture before expanding her vision into ready-to-wear.

Her creative career has spanned both fashion and beauty, with her work as a makeup artist further shaping her instinctive understanding of colour, proportion and the many ways women express themselves.

Inspired by her cultural heritage and a fascination with drape, texture and embellishment, Cassandra has developed a design language grounded in duality - balancing classic elegance and sensuality with a refined rebelliousness that challenges convention. Her understanding of the female form informs each silhouette, while her approach to cut, fabrication and detail reflects the precision of her couture background.

Cassandra's work has received national recognition, with features in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, ELLE, GQ and Marie Claire.

Her designs have been worn at the Logies, the Brownlow Medal and the Academy Awards, as well as across Australian television - establishing her as a distinctive voice in Australian fashion.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Cassandra Renée is founded on the belief that fashion should be cherished, not disposable.

Guided by the principles of slow fashion, we place quality over quantity - creating timeless wardrobe foundations and enduring statement pieces designed to transcend seasons, evolve with the wearer and remain treasured for years to come.

We are committed to ethical production and responsible sourcing, choosing premium materials; including natural fibres and deadstock fabrics wherever possible, and embracing more sustainable approaches to packaging. We value the skill and humanity behind every garment, partnering exclusively with ethically certified manufacturers and fostering respectful, considered relationships with the makers and specialists who bring our designs to life.

We also recognise that responsible fashion is an ongoing journey. Our commitment is not to perfection, but to continuous learning, growth and meaningful improvement. As Cassandra Renée evolves, we will continue to examine our choices, strengthen our practices and explore better ways to honour both craftsmanship and the environment. This is the foundation upon which we are building our label.
